Power Washing Your Roof

Power washing your roof is the worst thing you could ever do. High pressure water hitting your roof shingles will damage the shingles and shorten the life of the roof.

Trust us, there’s a better way.

Why does my roof have ugly black patches?

The unsightly patches and streaks that you see on your roof are a combination of different types of organic growth. The good news is that we can safely and effectively remove this growth by using a cleaning solution targeted toward that growth. We use low pressure throughout the process to protect the integrity of the shingles.

Can’t I just get up on my roof and use my power washer?

No! This is a horrible idea. First, think safety. It is not safe to stand on a wet roof without proper equipment. It’s simply not worth the risk. Second, the most pressure you should ever use on a roof is similar to what comes out of the end of a garden hose. It’s not that much. Maybe 50-100 psi. A power washer puts out 50 times that amount of psi and can do damage to the roof along with shooting water under the shingles which potentially allows it to leak into the house. While we use a power washer to do the vast majority of our work, one of the few times we have to use different, special equipment is when we wash a roof. Roofs require a strong cleaning solution applied at a low pressure which power washers are not able to accomplish.
